South Country Veterinary PC Inc. is proud to offer veterinary services to Assiniboia & Rockglen and surrounding areas.

Dear Clients,

While we would like to reassure everyone that at this time South Country Veterinary PC Inc remains COVID19-free, we are taking steps to protect our staff, our clients, and all of our families from the spread of this virus while still maintaining necessary services.

With that in mind, we are implementing several changes in our operations;

We encourage clients to call us from the parking lot when they arrive. If you have a scheduled appointment or are dropping off an urgent or emergent appointment, we will be asking you questions and collecting information from you when you call. Then one of our staff will come to your vehicle to retrieve your pet and bring it into the clinic. Please be sure that your pet is in a carrier or on a leash in order to allow them to be safely moved into the clinic. If necessary, our veterinarian will be calling you to ask further follow-up questions while she is performing her examination.

Dr. Bonnie Brandt is still providing large animal care, both in clinic and on farm. This is a necessary service but we ask you to please help us keep her safe and to reduce her chance of exposure to COVID. Every situation that arises will look a little different, but please know that all necessary precautions will be taken to limit her exposure to people. After hours and on-farm calls may mean that she requires your help – please follow her direction, practice good hygiene and maintain as safe of a distance as possible.

All clients refilling food or prescriptions can call ahead and prepay by phone. All clients needing Large Animal medications or supplies can also call ahead. We will gather your supplies and then our staff will deliver these products to you in the parking lot.

Healthy pets requiring annual exams or bloodwork for medication refills can be offered some time flexibility to arrange these appointments. Please call us and we will do our best to ensure you are able to get the prescriptions your pet needs.

Clients with questions regarding their pet’s existing medical issues are encouraged to call or email the clinic. Dr. Bonnie Brandt will get back to you as soon as she is able to.

It is likely that with recent school closures (and as the virus spreads), we may end up short-staffed. We have also asked that any of our employees that feel unwell stay home. Please be aware that this may affect our ability to schedule appointments and procedures. We will deal with these potential issues should they arise and apologize in advance for any inconvenience. We are doing our best to stay open and able to offer you veterinary care and services and we are committed to doing that as long as we are able to.

In addition, the spread of the virus through the country has already created shortages of medical supplies such as sterile gloves and masks. These shortages are causing the Health Authorities and the SVMA to recommend the postponement of non-urgent procedures and the shortages may also limit access to medications. If you have an appointment for a non-urgent procedure, our staff will be contacting you. We are maintaining a list of postponed procedures and we are committed to getting those done as soon as it is safe to do so.

Recommendations are changing fast and we are doing our best to employ the best strategies to keep not just your animals but also our staff, their families and our communities safe. We take this very seriously and it is very important to us to minimize exposure and reduce the spread of this virus. Please help us.

Thank you for your co-operation and your consideration. Please try your hardest to just stay home, that is the best way to minimize exposure and also to reduce the spread of the virus. We are all in this together.

Please call us if you have any questions.
